Gonabad University of Medical Sciences (GMU) – 2015 to 2025

National Scientific Olympiad and Sheikh al‑Raees Educational Technologies Festival

GMU student team—Hanieh Babapour, Rezvan Yavari Moqaddam, and Mohammad Tamaddon—won the Gold Medal in the Special Section of the 15th National Medical Olympiad for the project “Iran Morning Report Registration System (IRMR)”.

The same team received the Best Startup Award at the Sheikh al‑Raees Educational Technologies Festival for the identical innovation recognized by the Ministry of Health as one of its hallmark academic startups.

Motahari Medical Education Festival

First National Rank (2024): Dr. Seyed Farzin Mircheraghi - the faculty member of GMU - was honored for developing the “Interactive Virtual‑Reality Simulator for Neurological and Pulmonary Clinical Examinations.” at Motahari Medical Education Festival.

Third National Rank (2024): Awarded to the same faculty group for “Integration of E‑learning into GUMS educational processes.”

National Distinction (2025): Dr. Esmaeili and his Educational Development Center team received special recognition for “Design and Localization of the Standard Virtual Practical Exam for Medical Students.”

Simorgh Cultural and Artistic Festival – Twelfth Edition (2024 / 1403)

GUMS participants achieved multiple national positions:

• First Place in Screenwriting: Behjat Davoudi.
• Second Place in Playwriting: Azam Khazaei and Tahereh Tavasoli Zendeh Jan.
• Selections in Painting, Digital Art, and Screenwriting: Aida Mazari, Hanieh Pudineh, and Mobina Rajaei.

Seventh Edition (2019 / 1398)

• First Place in Design: Sadegh Heydari.

Razi Medical Sciences Research and Technology Festival

Twenty‑Eighth Razi Festival (2023 / 1401): The GUMS Research and Technology Committee was recognized by the Ministry of Health as a winner in the Legal and Ethical Research Section for committee‑level excellence.

Twenty‑First Razi Festival (2015 / 1394): GUMS Student Research Committee earned Second Place nationally for outstanding university‑level student research performance.

Transformation in Medical Education Conference (2023 / 1401–1402)

GUMS received the National Symbol of Integration Award at the 7th Scientific Authority Conference. The honor was conferred upon President Dr. Reza Ahmadi and the Social Medicine Department for leadership in integrating education, research, and community engagement.

Kharazmi and Farabi National Research Festivals (2015–2025)

During the verified period, no confirmed national individual or institutional awards were registered for GUMS within the Kharazmi or Farabi Research Festival archives. GUMS participated through submitted proposals and provincial evaluations but received no official national ranking.

Scientific Olympiad (2014 / 1393)

Two GUMS medical students — Mona Karimzadeh (Silver) and Arezoo Parsapour (Bronze) — won medals in the Basic Sciences field at the 6th National Medical Students’ Olympiad, held September 6–10 (15–19 Shahrivar 1393) at the Razi Conference Center, Iran University of Medical Sciences, competing among 48 medical universities nationwide.

Outstanding Student Festival (2023 / 1402)

Ali Motamadsanaei, a professional doctoral student in medicine at GUMS, was officially recognized as one of Iran’s outstanding students during the 30th National Exemplary Student Festival, attended by the Minister of Health and university presidents.

Motahari Educational Festival (2024 / 1403)

According to the Ministry of Health’s news service (Webda), the educational project titled “Implementation of the First Post‑Accreditation Institutional Monitoring System for Teaching Hospitals,” developed by Dr. Reza Esmaeili, Dr. Abdoljavād Khajavi, and Dr. Zohreh Abdi Moghaddam of 

Gonabad University of Medical Sciences (GUMS), won first place nationwide in the category of Educational Management and Leadership at the 18th Shahid Motahari Educational Festival.

During the closing ceremony — held concurrently with the 26th National Congress on Medical Education and the 7th Student Festival of Innovative Educational Ideas — the award plaque was presented to Dr. Reza Esmaeili by Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on behalf of the project team, recognizing GUMS’s pioneering achievement in national medical education leadership and quality development.
